24-year old Timothy Easley was sentenced to 75 years in prison for sexually assaulting and strangling a 15-year-old honor student in 2008. Easley was convicted in January of first-degree murder and aggravated criminal sexual assault.
The victim, Brashai Griffin was a classmate of Easley’s. On April 2, 2008, Griffin left her Sauk village home early that evening to meet Easley. When Griffin’s mother came home around 10:30 that night and discovered her daughter wasn’t home, she contacted the police. After a 48-hour search, Griffin’s body was found in a wooded area. Autopsy results revealed she had been strangled and sexually assaulted, and her death ruled a homicide.
DNA evidence taken from Griffin’s body matched Easley.
